Sunday Night Rising
The Phoenix Wrestling logo appears on the screen signifying the start of Sunday Night Rising. Then it explodes into flames as “Rise Above This” plays over the PA system into a shot of the arena with the fans going nuts. Then the camera focuses on Abigail Copeland who’s ready to call our first contest.
Killah Kain v. Tony Edison
Abigail Copeland: “The opening contest is scheduled for one fall and is a first round World Title Tournament Match.”
“You’re All Dying” by Necro plays over the speakers signifying the entrance of UX Alumni, Killah Kain. He walks out to few cheers and mostly boos. He slides into the ring and goes to his corner to wait on the arrival of his opponent. Then “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne comes over the speakers as Tony Edison walks out from the back to a decent reception. These people give Edison a little respect even though he’s been on a losing streak lately. He enters the ring and stands in the opposite corner.
The ref signals for the bell and the contest is under way. The two men meet in the center of the ring. They each talk some trash to each other before Edison finally loses it and swings wildly on Kain, catching him in the jaw. Kain steps back a bit holding his jaw before he charges Edison. Edison, however, drops to the mat and catches Kain with a drop toehold that sends Kain face first into the canvas. Kain holds his jaw in pain as Edison goes to stomping away at his leg. Edison doing the smart thing and trying to keep Kain down.
Edison picks up Kain and whips him into the corner. Tony charges in and hits Kain with a shoulder block that drives all the air out of The Beast. Then Tony, whips Kain into the opposite corner and tries the same thing. But this time The Beast makes a quick move to his right and sends Edison shoulder first into the ring post. As Edison backs up, Kain attempts a Killah Driver, but Edison realizing where he’s at, lands an elbow into the temple of The Beast. Edison then slips out and nails a reverse DDT. He attempts a pinfall but Kain kicks out at two. Edison attempts to follow up but Kain counters with a leg sweep into an elbow drop. Kain covers but only gets a one count with Edison powering out before the ref slaps the mat with two. Tony stands up and charges Kain, he takes him down with a huge spear.
Tony looks around at the crowd signaling for his End of Days finishing move. He reels Kain in and lands the move. He goes for the cover but to his dismay Kain’s feet are hanging underneath the bottom rope. Thus, Tony cannot make a cover. He gets up and starts jawing at the referee in frustration. Then he turns around back to Kain who is still down, he drags him out from underneath the ropes. He then ascends the top rope and comes off attempting an elbow drop. But Kain rolls out of the way as Tony slams down hard on his elbow. Then as quick as a cat, Kain lifts Edison up and nails a huge Killah Driver. He covers and gets the academic three count.
Abigail Copeland: “Here is your winner, KILLAH KAIN!!!”
“You’re All Dying” plays as Kain celebrates in the middle of the ring, much to the fans dismay. They were looking forward to seeing Edison win one, but it wasn’t meant to be tonight.
We focus in on Jonathan Cage’s office. We see his brother David sitting across the desk from him.
Cage: “David, I asked you here because I wanted to offer you an office position here in Phoenix Wrestling Inc.”
David: “What position would that be?”
Cage: “A position you’ve held before.”
David: “Really…”
Cage: “But I know in my heart that you won’t fuck it up this time.”
David: “I won’t…trust me.”
With that, David gets up and leaves the office with a smile on his face.
Alyson Starr-Cage v. Adam Cage
Abigail Copeland: “The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is another first round match in the World Title Tournament!!”
“Instigator” by Kaci Brown begins to play out over the speakers signifying the arrival of Alyson Starr. She walks out from behind the curtain and stands there for a few minutes before walking down the ramp. She slaps hands with some of the fans before climbing into the ring. She goes to her corner and waits on the arrival of her opponent. Then “Chop Suey” by System of a Down plays and Adam Cage walks out from behind the curtain to a decent ovation. He comes down the ramp slapping some hands before climbing into the ring. He stands in the corner never looking away from Alyson.
The referee calls for the bell and Alyson charges Cage with ferocity. She dips low and drives her shoulder into his midsection but he stands there and takes it. It has no effect on him. She grabs her shoulder with her face showing her pain. He grabs her by the hair and lifts her up pressing her above his head before slamming her down hard to the mat. She arches her back in obvious pain.
This is the opportunity that Cage needs. He backs up to the corner setting up for the Cage Rush. She stands up and he sprints towards her. Then out of desperation, she catches him flush with the Seeing Starrs. She covers and gets the three count.
Abigail Copeland: “Here is your winner…Alyson Starr!!!”
Alyson makes it to her feet, as the ref calls her as the winner. She gets a mic and signals for the music to be cut. She raises the mic to her lips and smiles.
Alyson: “So.. I have a few things to say tonight.. The first of which being, Kaia Kologne, will no longer be in the company, due to, personal reasons. But, in her absence, there will be another diva in the company…let me RE-introduce to you…”
The opening music of "Not Like That" starts playing and the crowd makes it to their feet cheering.
Alyson: MADISON CAGE!!!!!!!
Madison walks out onto the stage smirking, with her is her new manager, Amy Lynne. They walk down the ramp talking and both girls get into the ring. Madison and Alyson hug and Madison waves to the crowd. Alyson signals for the music to be cut again, then raises the mic back to her lips.
Alyson: “And my second part of the night... I know he’s in the company.. but he is here. David Cage…please…come to this ring.”
After a few seconds, “The Way I Was” by Makeshift Romeo plays over the speakers, the curtains part and David Cage walks out onto the stage. He walks down the ramp and gets into the ring eyeing his, whatever she is. Madison discreetly slides something into Alyson's hand and Alyson watches David.
Alyson: Now.. I'm sure all of you know.. the situation by this point.. ME and David thought we were married.. we found out we're not.. and I told the state.. we didn't want to be. And I think I made the right decision that the time. I needed to do some thinking.. And I've come to a conclusion..
Alyson drops down to one knee in the middle of the ring and looks up at David. She holds up a watch box that has a platinum Rolex with diamonds around the face.
Alyson: David Cage.. Will you marry me?
David stands there with the most shocked look on his face. He looks out to the fans who are going crazy with excitement. He then looks back at Alyson.
David: “The answer is obvious…hell yeah, I’ll marry you.”
He bends down and lifts her into his arms. The two kiss passionately in the middle of the ring as “The Way I Was” plays over the PA system. The trio leave the ring and head to the backstage area.
Insomniac v. Kevin Sparx
Abigail Copeland: “The following contest is another first round match in the World Title Tournament and is scheduled for one fall.”
“My Favorite Withdrawal” by Deluge begins to play over the speakers signifying the entrance of one half of Damage Control, Insomniac. He gets a decent reaction from this Sapporo crowd. He walks down the ramp slapping some hands of the fans that have their arms outstretched. He enters the ring and goes to his corner. Then “Southern Thang” by Cloroks plays over the PA system. Kevin Sparx walks out to a huge ovation seeing as he’s been on a roll since the start of this company. He comes down the ramp while interacting with the ringside fans. He slides into the ring and takes off his coat. He stands there in the ring never taking his eyes off his opponent.
The ref signals for the bell and the two men meet in the center of the ring. They stare each other down before the whole shoving contest begins. Insomniac gets the upper hand shoving Sparx to the mat below. Kevin gets up and charges Insomniac who gets hit with a vicious clothesline that sends him forcibly to the mat. Sparx gets down and locks in a reverse chinlock. Insomniac moves around trying to get out of this move. And finally he makes it to the ropes forcing Sparx to break the hold. Sparx waits for Insomniac to get up then he grabs him and sets up for a vertical suplex. Much to the chagrin of Sparx, Insomniac wiggles his way out of it and lands a desperation reverse DDT. He covers him but only gets the two count.
Insomniac looks up at the referee in frustration. He ascends to the top rope and comes off hitting a diving leg drop right across the throat of The Sparxter. Believing that he’s not ready to be pinned, Insomniac ascends to the top rope yet again and this time signals for his Acid Drop finishing maneuver. He waits poised on the turnbuckle waiting for Sparx to get to his feet. Once he does Insomniac dives off completing the double rotation but Sparx, aware of his surroundings, dives out of the way. Insomniac lands hard on the mat on his lower back. This is the opportunity that Sparx was waiting for. He locks in his Coal Banker submission move. Insomniac yells in pain as Sparx sits down lower and lower. Insomniac begins move toward the ropes, he almost makes it before Sparx pulls him into the middle of the ring. Then Insomniac has no choice but to tap out. Sparx releases the hold as the bell rings.
Abigail Copeland: “Here is your winner…KEVIN SPARX!!!”
“Southern Thang” plays as Sparx celebrates his undefeated streak here in Phoenix Wrestling. In a show of sportsmanship, he extends a hand to Insomniac who takes it and is helped to his feet. The two men shake hands then celebrate in the middle of the ring before exiting and heading to the back.
A promotional cut for the first ever PPV Ascension plays over the screen. Then we cut to Abigail Copeland who’s ready to call the main event.
Brandon O’Neal v. Antonio Carter
Abigail Copeland: “The following contest is your Main Event of the evening and is another first round match in the World Title Tournament.”
"Are You Dead Yet?" by Children of Bodom hits the sound system and Brandon O'Neal walks out to screaming fans. He slowly walks down the ramp and high fives a few Japanese fans. He slides into the ring and raises his arms, trying to get the crowd pumped up for the upcoming confrontation. "Gasoline" by Seether comes on the PA and Antonio Carter slowly walks out to tremendous boos. He walks down the ramp, refusing to touch any of the fans, and he steps up the ramp and into the ring, never taking his eyes off of O'Neal.
The two competitors lock up in the ring and fight for the early advantage. O'Neal soon drives Carter back against the ropes, but Carter quickly begs off, and Brandon allows him to regroup. Carter stands back up and dusts himself off, glaring at his opponent with ferocity. They lock back up again, but Carter breaks the hold and twists O'Neal's arm around, trying to injure it right off the bat. O'Neal tries to get behind Carter, but Antonio increases the pressure and begins to wear down his arm.
O'Neal backs Carter against the ropes, and bounces him off, sending him flying across the ring. Carter ducks the first of O'Neal's clothesline attempts, but he gets cut down by a big boot on the fly back. O'Neal quickly lifts him his challenger and throws him against the turn buckle with authority. Carter stumbles back out into the center of the ring, just from the rebound and he walks right into a big DDT from O'Neal!
For the next few minutes, O'Neal controls the match with apparent ease, using an assortment of headlocks, arm and leg holds and simple impact maneuvers. O'Neal has a sleeper locked in, but Carter counters back with a couple stiff elbows to the nose of O'Neal, which causes him to step back in shock. Carter jumps back and drills O'Neal with a picture perfect Carter Experience! Antonio, though, is too worn down to get the cover, and falls to the ground.
The ref gets his count up to eight before both men are on their feet, O'Neal springs into action and locks in the Iron Lung! Antonio Carter yells out in agony, but he has nowhere to go in the middle of the ring. Carter taps after a solid ten minute match.
Abigail Copeland: “Here is your winner…Brandon O’Neal!!!”
O’Neal celebrates in the ring as we go off the air.
